Bottle Gourd Chutney

Ingredients :

  • Peanuts           – Half Handful
  • Onions             – 1 Big
  • Green Chilli   – 3
  • Tamarind       – walnut sized bal
  • Bottle gourd  – Peeled layer
  • Salt                   – To taste

Preperation :

  • Cut the onions into small pieces,fry the peanuts and keep it aside.
  • In a pan fry peeled bottle gourd layer,half amount of onions  and then add green chilli,tamarind to pan.Add them to mixi jar and even add peanuts,salt to it and fine grind them.
  • Heat 2 tsp of oil to kadai,add jeeara,mustard,urad dal and remaining onions to kadai and finally add chutney to kadai.
  • Bottle gourd chutney is ready.

Onion Chutney (Erragadda kaaram)

Ingredients :

  • Onion – 4-5 onions
  • Dry coconut – 4-5 tsp (grated)
  • tamarind – wal-nut sized tamarind ball
  • salt – to taste
  • Chilli powder – 1-11/2 tsp depends on the spicyness
  • Pinch of sugar – to taste
  • Curry leaves

To tamper :

  • Mustard – 1tsp
  • Jeera – 1tsp
  • urad dal – 1tsp

Preperation :

  • Cut the onions into cubes and keep it aside.
  • Add dry coconut,salt,chili powder and tamarind to mixi jar,fine grind them.Now add onions to it and pulse them for 2-3 times.
  • Heat 2 tsp of ghee in the kadai and add onion chutney to the pan and fry for 2-3 mins.
  • For popu,Heat the pan,add 1 tsp of oil and add 1tsp cumin seeds,mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add them to the chutney and mix well.

Onion chutney is ready!!This will go well with all the breakfast items like dosa,Idli,Ponganalu and chapati.


Raw Tomato Chutney

Ingredients :

  • Raw (Green) Tomatoes       – 4 big
  • Onion                                       – 1
  • Green Chilli                            – 4
  • Coriander seeds                       – 1 tsp
  • Seasame seeds(Nuvvulu )     –  Half handful
  • Tamarind                                  –  wal-nut sized tamarind ball

To tamper :

  • Jeera    – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • urad dal           – 1tsp

Preperation :

  • Heat the kadai, fry seasame seeds (Nuvvulu) and coriander seeds in a low flame and keep it aside and let it cool.
  • Add 1tsp of oil to kadai, tamper green chili and tamarind.
  • Cut the tomatoes into small cubes and add 2tsp of oil to kadai , add tomatoes to it and let it it cook untill the raw smell goes off.
  • Meanwhile add fried seasame seeds (Nuvvule),coriander seeds,green chilli,tamarind and salt to mixi jar, fine grind them.
  • Once tomatoes gets cooked,let it cool for 5 minutes.
  • Add boiled tomato to mixi jar and pulse 1 or 2 times to just get mixed up with masala.
  • Chop the onions,add 1tsp of oil to the pan and add jeera,mustard,urad dal,chopped onions and fry them.
  • Add this seasoning or popu  to Tomato chutney.

Peanut Chutney

Quite often i will make peanut chutney in my kitchen. This will go well with all breakfast items like Upma, Dosa, Idli, Vada and Pongal.

Below ingredients serves 2 persons.

Ingredients :

  • Ground nuts – 200g
  • Dry coconut  – 3 tsp (Grated)
  • Green chilli – 3-4
  • Salt – To taste
  • Tamarind -wall-nut sized tamarind ball
  • Onion – half

Preperation :

  • Roast the peanuts in a low flame until it turns to golden brown.Cool and rub the skin off.
  • Add roasted peanuts ,dry coconut, green chilli, onion and tamarind to mixi jar, fine grind.
  • Now add salt and small cup of water.Grind to fine consistency.
  • Take the chutney in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • For popu,Heat the pan,add 1 tsp of oil and add 1tsp cumin seeds,mustard seeds,red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Add them to the chutney and mix well.
